Bewick's Wren-Habitat

On my way home from my trip to the Klamath Basin I stopped at a little rest area between MP 142 & 143 on I-5 in Oregon. A small picnic area in the back had some paths through an oak grove. I found several Williamson's Sapsuckers (no decent images) and this Bewick's Wren foraging while I took a 10 minute stretch break. I was shooting hand held under overcast skies and only managed two decent shots of the wren-both in this position with just a different head turn.

1Div, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, hand held, f9 (should have gone wide open for this, though it would have blurred the surroundings a lot), 1/125, iso 1250, Av mode with +1/3 stop compensation. Processed in LR5 & CS6. I removed some distracting twigs above the wren, but left the stuff to the sides as I liked how it framed the bird and provided habitat. Cropped to 7.1 MP from a horizontal original. Taken at 10:47 am on February 22nd under cloudy skies.

Your comments and criticisms are very much appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

Nice behavior and the habitat shows how flexible these little guys are when they are looking for something.

An awesome capture of this little fellow. I really like the way you can see his left foot gripping the branch next to his head. I might try to clone out those OOF green leaf sprout in the bottom right of the frame as they kind of draw your eye to them. :toast:
