A tree on a hill

I really haven't been able to get away to shoot new landscapes of late. Blame the wildlife, I say

Anyway, this is from my 2011 archives, from a trip to the trout-fishing mecca of the South African Highveld.

It's a blend of 3 exposures using luminosity masks - sunrise shot.

Techs:
Nikon D3s
Nikkor 14-24mm f2.8
f16 | ISO-200

I really like this image. The feeling of depth and openness draw me into the image. The color is very nice, the sky is beautiful and the tree gives good foreground interest.

Nicely done to fill the more empty section of the sky with that little guy. It makes a nice composition to compliment the beauty of the rest of the sky.

Very nice, Morkel. I really like the placement of the tree in the frame. Everything flows into and through the shot. I have one very small nit, and that is the two yellow flowers by the tree, they seem to keep grabbing my attention for some reason. It's probably just me. The large view is sweet. BTW, I love your wildlife photos. :toast:

Morkel, This is a beautiful image!! I love the light and colors in this and that sky is just amazing. I also think your composition works great here. I like the lone tree and rocks very much. Excellent work!

This is neat, with the clouds and sunrise "exploding" behind and balancing that twisted tree.

I like your comp which creates a sense of depth Morkel. Also the lone tree and ominous sky compliment each other well.

That lone tree set against the beautiful expanse of land and sky really makes this an exceptional image. Excellent.

The comp and light are very nice. On my laptop today and the image seems a bit flat, like it could use some additional contrast.

I like the composition a lot! Nice to get a pleasing sky to go along with it.

Thanks everyone!!
Tony, I was wondering about the apparent contrast - already added quite a bit, will revisit it...
