Portrait of a male Leopard ( Panthera pardus ). Makepesi is the name given by rangers and trackers in the reserve. Image was taken in Motswari Private Game Reserve in the Timbavati Reserve in Greater Kruger, South Africa. A spotlight was used to illuminate the scene as this sighting took place after sunset in the blue hour clearly present in this image. Leopard sightings in this area are definitely among the best in Southern Africa.

Mario,

I don't normally like artificially lit subjects, either with a spotlight or flash. It just looks so unnatural to me. However, this image is really nice. The detail is great and those eyes are marvelous. Must have been a great experience. Well done.

Wonderful detail in the face that shows up in the larger version. I think he is regal enough on his own and doesn't need the vignette to help focus us in on him.
