Here's another shot from our most recent Ecuador trip. I set up a wimberley plamp holding this pink flower and added some sugar water to the flower. The background is natural here and I was using just my external flash, no additional slaves. The techs probably seem a bit odd here - I was going for shots with the head sharp and the wings blurred but I liked this one a lot where the wings were mostly stopped.

So delicate and beautiful, with wonderful colors and I love the stopped wings in this case. Sterling!

Nate,
Love everything about this. The background is superb and looks natural and the use of a single flash really works here. Love the almost frozen upright wing position and I even like that feet are not tack sharp showing some movement. I like seeing the perfectly frozen hummer images but then I see a more natural looking image like this one and think I actually prefer it. Seems more real. Don't know if any of that made sense but that's how I feel. :)

Sweet composition, Nate. I like the slight blur to the wings and the crispness of the face and flowers.

Very nice. I like the great wings up pose and the way the flower curves down to the bird.
