I liked the feather detail on this American Widgeon Drake ( Anas Americana). Processed using Photoshop CS3, NeatImage and LightZone.

Comments and critiques welcome.

The larger image is very nice, with good detail and natural color. Getting light on the eye is critical with this species - the eye always appears recessed a little into the feathers and can be in deep shadow if not careful.

Agree with Richard. Gob-smacking good detail and lovely water! I could wish for just a bit more room in front. :toast:

Jerry - beautiful shot of this widgeon. I love the detail and lighting. The water has a special character; in the foreground it looks more fluid than water! In the background it looks like the water is moving, as in a flowing stream. My eye sometimes goes to that bright white spot below the right wing - looks like the only spot receiving direct light, and it is slightly distracting to me. Overall, a great picture.

Beautiful, Jerry. Superb detail and you really manged to catch the iridescent plumage on the head at peak.

It is always amazing to me how many different feather colors ducks can have and this shot shows that very well, nice job in getting this.

Beautiful color and detail in the feathers. The water is excellent as well. There is just a hint of tonal merging of the top back of the tail into similar tones of the water. Nothing you could do at the time with the lighting you had. Well done.
