Lonesome & Cold

The last two winters we had were very mild with almost no snow. This winter we have had several nice snow falls. This old house makes a great subject. I tried a b&w conversion and there was almost no difference, except the brown weeds. I liked the color better. Almost no post processing. Thanks for your comments and critiques.

Canon 7d
Sigma 17-70
Shutter 1/320
Aperture f8
ISO 100
42mm
+1 Exposure Comp.
Tripod and shutter lock up
I cloned out a power line going to the house.

A wonderful winter scene. You did a nice job with the exposure and comp. :toast:

A nice, cold and wintery feel on this image. Composition is good though I could use a touch less foreground

nicely done, Richard. Keeping this in color was a good choice in my opinion. The blowing snow is a nice touch. I don't mind the foreground. It feels very much like an old, abandoned rural Kansas farmstead.

Very desolate and effective - I agree with a bit less FG -
Nice!

Nice composition, Richard. I like the clear view through the one window-it really adds to the empty feeling.

That is a sweet winter shot Richard, well done.

One thing that pops into my head, is that I'd love to see the old house on the right, instead of the left, of the comp, with the front facing the eye more--like shooting birds or wildlife. Just IMO, and I don't even know what is to the left or if that was even possible. Very nice either way.

Richard,

I like this plenty. Would like to see it in bw conversion as it seems perfect for that. :toast:

Stark, cold, and desolate. I could also see going with a high key b/w. This photo really tells the story. Very Nice.
