Fall colors at the Portland Japanese Garden, Portland, OR.

I really enjoyed spending a morning at the Japanese Garden in October. I spent almost 4 hours in the garden, but I was so engaged while capturing images that it felt like 30 minutes. The colors and lines in these trees really caught my eye that morning.

Nikon D800, Nikkor 24-120 at 95mm, polarizer

5 image blend for DOF of the tree/leaves. I went for the extreme DOF, since it makes the image feel very 3D to me. Do you agree?

All comments and suggestions are always appreciated. I'm really interested to hear what you think of this one. Please check out the larger version.

I like the arrangement of color in this image, Scott. The strong vertical lines also add a lot of energy to the composition. Even at the larger size it seems to small to really get the 3D effect, but I bet it looks great in a larger print. Excellent work - I never tire of fall color!!

I do feel the 3D effect even at the smaller scale. Must have been a bunch of blending with 5 images. But worth it in the end. Beautiful picture Scott.

Really nice comp, and you had very nice light that day.
The PP is really well done, a pleasure to view.

Wonderful mixture of elements to me, Scott. While the trunks make for a nice structure, I enjoy exploring all the delightful details of the foliage.

What a wonderful blaze of color, Scott. I really like your comp. with the trunks in the center providing a focal point but well connected to all of those glorious colors.

This is simply gorgeous, Scott. I could get lost in all the details and different shades of color in the large version. Beautifully done! Print this baby big.

Beautiful composition. Beautiful color. Portland's Japanese Garden offers some beautiful scenes for sure although I seem to be prejudiced against it somewhat because it's hard to consider it "Real" nature, ie, wilderness. I know that's silly because other images may be taken right off a roadway, etc. It's just a hangup I have, I guess, but that doesn't take anything away from the beauty here. The large version is just gorgeous - can't wait to see it at home on a decent, calibrated monitor.

Sweetness, Scott.... The DoF blend makes this image more abstract and lets me concentrate on the colors scatterd throughout. Very well done

I really like this composition and the contrast between the deciduous and evergreen foliage.

Powerful color. A work of art through that color, the light, your use of lines, tones, and textures. A feeling of joy. :toast:
