Hey, the ladies are pretty also. I've always thought the Wood Duck hens were very attractive. Processed using Photoshop CS3, NeatImage and LightZone.

Comments and critiques welcome.

It is a beauty indeed, Jerry ! I full agree, and for so many species people tend to concentrate on the males, but the females or often just as nice. Excellent shot, nice low angle and well exposed. And a nice catchlight in the eye - what more could you wish for ? Congrats on this great shot ! :toast: , hans

All,

Thanks for the comments.

Hans,

After seeing how low you get for your captures, I almost got in the pond on this one. I was lying flat on my stomach with the lens a few inches above the shore. I have a stiff neck to prove it.

She sure is a pretty lady! No question female ducks get overshadowed by their flashy counterparts, but you captured her beauty and elegance wonderfully here...the overall presentation is pretty close to perfect IMO. Outstanding techs as well...I don't think you could have chosen a more perfect DOF even if you could fine tune the lens to f7.0 or 7.2!

Quite possibly my favourite part of this image is the INCREDIBLE quality and feel to the water. Just beautiful all-around.

Good work on the detail in the chest. A charming pose, too. I agree with you on Wood Duck hens; they're gorgeous.

Very attractive. She shows well and the detail is excellent. The low angle is also a plus. I didn't think the 7D was out when CS3 was around. Are you doing your Raw conversions in DPP?

Rick,

First, thanks for the comments. You are correct. When the 7D came out, CS3 did not recognize the format. I use Adobe DNG Converter after I download the images from my camera. Photoshop CS3 will then recognize the format. Hope that answers your question.
