Green Heron

Hi everyone!! Here's another one from Florida! My dad and I were at a wetlands area not far from the coast in eastern Florida. We noticed some movement in the pond beside us. After glancing over we realized it was a Green Heron! I got as close to eye level as I could. I couldn't believe how relaxed and cooperative he was! He even hunted right in front of us! It was amazing being so close to him.

Thanks for lookin'! :wavey:

Heron is sharp and colors look great - the oof leaves in the foreground are distracting to me

Hello Jenaya

You gotta love these guys:) They can be quite tolerant of us when they are busy hunting for food., and their unique antics are a pleasure to enjoy. The global exposure is well done and your choice of saturation has brought out details in the fine feathers. I can see a faint catchlight in its eye and maybe if you could enhance this some it would really give the image a little more power. I also find the top side of his beak a little bright and this brightness has prevented some details from showing up. The foreground oof shrubs are a distraction (Very Bright)as other has mentioned, maybe bring down the brightness here to be less obtrusive. I really like how you have captured the bird and separation from the background.

Thanks for sharing

Very nice detail, color and bg! I agree with the others that bringing down the brightness in the OOF leaves in the foreground would improve this image.

Always nice to find a cooperative heron! Agree with the other comments re: the oof foreground, but I still would rather see it at this level than from a higher perspective. Good job getting low! Sharon

Excellent detail, Jenaya. The heron is a bit tight in the frame for my taste-did you take an shots with the teleconverter off? Alternatively, I might be tempted to crop this to a portrait. As presented it looks really crowded at the bottom.

Wonderful feather detail and color on the larger image. I might consider going with Dennis suggestion and doing a portrait type crop since the lower OOF leaves are distracting. Sounds like a great green heron encounter.
