Hi everyone! I'm sorry I haven't posted in a long time! In November we moved to an acreage just on the edge of the Porcupine Hills in southern Alberta! For quite a while we were busy packing and unpacking, and then settling into the new home. Then, near Christmas, I got hit by a really bad flu! Just as I was getting better from the flu, I got a cold! Anyway, crazy last couple of months to say the least!

Here's an image from my Florida trip last year, that NPN helped send me to for the NANPA scholarship. I would just like to thank everyone for donating money towards the trip, it truly meant a lot to me!

The bird in this image is a Yellow Rumped (Myrtle) Warbler. Thank you Phil and Richard for helping me identify it!

I hope you like the image as much as I do! More images coming soon!

EDIT: Forgot to mention it's a lake in the background, not the sky.

Thanks for lookin'! :wavey:

Glad you are well! You've been missed. As usual, you have an excellent eye for composition. I think this is a female Myrtle Warbler. And I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong!

Esthetically pleasing frame Jenaya, I like it.
Only suggestion I have is a minor clone out of the OOF veg URC at frame edge.
Well done :toast:

Hi Jenaya: Nice to have you back. Glad to hear you're doing better. I like the concept of this bird-scape. Composed nicely. Agree with Howard on removing the little OOF vegetation in the upper right. I'd also remove the white spot in the middle upper half. Maybe it's the moon? I'd still remove it.

This is a Yellow-rumped Warbler (of the eastern "myrtle" race).

I like the lines in this image, Jenaya. Sorry to hear you've been sick. Hopefully your new digs will be nice and "birdy".

With regards to comp, you could aim to place the bird in the upper left intersecting rule of thirds point. I think that would be bigger impact on the overall comp. But, very nice still. I like small birds in frames. Good work!

REALLY cool image here, Jenaya! Very visually pleasing composition and graphic elements. I know the bird is extremely small in the frame, but this picture is more a strong piece of art than a classic bird on a perch image for me. Although I was shooting near you when you took this, I never even saw this scene so good on you not only for seeing the potential but also for making fantastic decisions in the field to end up with so strong of an image!

Nice eye to see the beauty of this scene. The backlighting looks a little strong on the bird's head/neck...maybe just a bit of dodging there ??? Again, well seen! Sharon
