This is an old image from 2008. I'm not sure why I haven't posted it before; I suppose I've never been really happy with the way the trees block the mountain behind. Ah well, the doldrums of winter make you look at these warm summer shots in a different way.

Nikon D80
Nikon 12.0-24.0 mm f/4.0 at 12 mm
1/45, 1/125, & 1/350 sec at f/16 and ISO 800
A blend of three photos. I have no memory of why I was shooting at ISO 800; it was likely inadvertent.

Similar thoughts to mine. This works well with the tension between the foreground flowers and background trees (+ the cloud is perfect)

Yeah, they do block the view a bit, but lots to like from front to back in this. Great color and the clouds add just a touch of drama.

I did not even notice the trees blocking the mountain. I like it.

I can’t tell for sure on this laptop, but it seems that the foreground could use a bit more contrast.

Beautiful scene John from front to back. Makes me feel warmer looking at this. Wonderful color and details throughout. Really nice.

Love the colors, even showing up on the distant mountains. The cumulus cloud overhead is the classic sign of a summer landscape, and its position in the frame couldn't be any better. As far as brightness and balance goes, between the fg and sky, I do feel that either the foreground is a hair bright, or the sky is a bit dark. Or maybe a difference in contrast between the two? Anyways, what I feel I am seeing is no big deal in my eye, as this is a beautiful image as-is (to say the least)!

What a beautiful mountain scene John. I agree with you though that the trees blocking the mountains are a little disturbing. Looks like a beautiful area to explore. Chet.

Very nice capture and presentation. You're making me "homesick" for summer and the mountains.

The trees do block the view just a bit, but there are plenty of other things to enjoy here, John. The drama in the sky with the clouds is superb as is the summertime meadow with the wildflowers. Take this with a grain of salt because I am on my laptop, but it looks like the image could use a touch more contrast. Either way this scene has such a wonderful feel to it.

makes for a very pretty image but i can see why those trees might have bothered you ... still, if it wards off the winter blues, bring it on!

Ah, what a breath of fresh air after all the snow and ice images we've seen. This is just stunning, so clear and sharp, with those gorgeous clouds in the background. REally lovely. Where is it?

Gorgeous and lush, a departure from the wintry desolation we have been seeing. Love the colors and comp here, John.

I can see the tree issue, it does nag at you a bit but it's still a very nice shot and processed beautifully.
