Eastern Cottontail
by Rebecka
Hi everyone,
It's been forever since I've posted. Hoping to get active on here again. Haven't been taking many nature pics, so I'm going through my archives in hopes of getting myself inspired to get out there.
Here is an Eastern Cottontail. Whenever I see them, I remember working with them in wildlife rehab. Did you know that rabbits are among the most difficult animals for a human to save? If they are brought to a rescue organization as adults, the poor things generally pass of fear (heart attack). As babies... oh my. There is no bottle feeding a bunny, like most other baby mammals. One must stick a feeding tube down the esophagus to the animal's stomach, and G-d forbid you make a mistake in the placement... we would all get so nervous when it came time to do this! Luckily, they start eating on their own much sooner than other young species; we were always happy when it came time to release a little rabbit who made it.

4 commentsGlad to see you posting again. Good portrait of this bunny. I like how you composed it. Very sharp and good detail. Good choice of a large aperture to separate the bunny from the oof bg.

I like the landscape view in the rabbits eye too..
Nice profile view/angle, very natural looking color.
Excellent work! (both working to rehab & the image)
