Windy Wendy Waxwing :)

Very cold & blustery today in Central Texas, made it a bit harder to pull it off. You can see some of the winds effect in the Cedar Waxwings unusual tufted "do".
I surely don't know what the sex is, but I took a 'shot' at it anyway

Ah, one of my favorite birds. The background really suits this guy. My only small nit is longing for a bit more room on the left side. Great capture.

Love to see these done right. It is so difficult to get texture in the feathers and any appearance of the eye in that black mask. Really well done, with a decent perch and a great backgorund! :toast:

Excellent color, detail, and bg. I like the windblown look of the feathers on top of the head.

Nice perch, bg, and detail in the feathers Howard. I think Wendy looks a little crabby because you took her picture on a bad hair day.

Way to cool, an excellent waxwing shot. I like the pose with eye contact, perch and wonderful background. Interesting color transition from head to tail, well done Howard. :toast:

Another beauty. The background is perfect; the colors of the waxwing and background complement each other wonderfully. If it is a male he could be named Wendell maintaining the alliteration.

Real nice shot of this handsome devil Howard. You have done a great job in capturing the subtle detail in those very smooth looking feathers. :toast:

Really nice Howard - great detail in the larger image. The plumage of the Waxwings seems similar to our woodswallows and it's very hard to get detail

Nice pose and detail on the waxwing. I don't think I've seen the wing "berries" stand out so nicely before.

Excellent piece of photography, Howard. You have captured some super fine detail and that BG works a treat. Hoping for the European species of this bird to turn up in the UK this year.

I like this even better than the last one. It's hard to get details to show on these sleek birds, but you got them nicely on this one. I like the v in the perch and the great crest and red feathers you got, too. Sharon

Excellent, Howard. I love the way the bg color is almost identical with the back of the Waxwing. After reading you comment on the weather, I looked at yours when I checked ours this morning-I think you were actually colder.
