Winter's Last Grip

This was my first visit to Lake Marie in southern Wyoming and as you can see most of the lake was still frozen over with ice, and there was a lot of snow lining the lake as well. But, there was a small pocket of open water and the alpenglow on the peaks being reflected in the cold, rocky water was a great sight to see after driving all through the night.

Excellent composition and crafting. The image presents itself quite well, and I really applaud you on the total DOF.

Beautiful light and you filled the frame rather nicely, Ryan. Were you able to get any images of the nice reflections without the boulders mixed in? I could also see that working with an uninterupted reflection. Well worth the overnight drive IMO.

A beautiful mountain scene well rendered. I personally find the superimposition of the reflection and underwater rocks quite interesting. I think you could increase the contrast in the underwater areas to emphasise this even more.

Very nice composition and the processing looks great Ryan. Beautiful warm light on the mountains and a nice reflection. Rocks break up the reflection a bit but very nice anyways. Beautiful image.

A very nice use of a wide-angle lens - great DoF and clarity.

Great capture Ryan a nice blend of warm and cool tones. The reflection in the still lake water is very nice and the rocks above and below the water bring a little tension into what would otherwise be a very calm relaxing scene. A couple of things I think that would make this stronger though would be to crop the image above the two white rocks at the very bottom of the frame, or, if you able to clone, I'd crop it just above the Y in your signature then clone out the remainder of the white rock on the right. This would balance the image better in my opinion. Second, the image seems a little on the dim side on my computer. Brightening it up somewhat would make it pop more.

The top to bottom sharpness is outstanding. Then you add a near perfect reflection and a gentle touch of alpen glow. Excellent!
