Alert

Out early this morning and while watching some other deer, I saw this buck come out of the woods and move closer but disappearing behind a small hill between me and him. After a while, I decided to try and see him which involved going up the hill to peer over. Yep, he was there and apparently not happy with me interrupting him. So he gave me this one nice pose and a broadside as he exited stage left at a walking pace. I like this one as it shows off his antlers and his body fairly well. I cropped this some to eliminate unneeded territory on the right and bottom. Made for a better composition. This is about 75% of the original. I reduced the exposure by 3/4 stop and made small adjustments to things like sharpness, contrast, highlights. This is one of the few times that I've gotten the antlers against a nice BG and not having to deal with lots of veg around the head. Comments and critiques are very welcome.

Nice shot of this big boy. It's nice to get them in the open occasionally. Love the morning light.
Beautiful light and good separation from the background.
Too bad about the long grasses in front, hiding his legs.
