First to Bloom

We have had a mild winter here in the PNW, so the Witch Hazel popped out earlier than usual. Pretty exciting to see such a bright yellow against our perennial gray skies; and I offer this image as a bit of cheer to all of you, who are suffering through difficult, bitter weather.

Caterine, I love the harmony of the different colors. Here too the winter is mild and many spring and summer plants still show some flowers.
Take care.

Catherine: Don't you love the heralds of spring? Interesting subject. I can also see a horizontal comp just including the main stem and eliminating the stuff in the corners. Well seen and thanks indeed for a bit of cheer. >=))>

Lovely light and nice colors. Not sure you need the tendrils in the llc. The bg is most complimentary.

Catherine:

It is nice to see some color after a grey winter. Like the orange against the green bg and the moss on the stem. You might want to consider cropping out the partial bloom along the right margin.

Been trying desperately to photograph these here, Catherine, as we have some lovely ones out just now. They are tricky, but I like what you've done - the lichen colour adds a lot and the out of the frame elements seem just right to capture the wandering nature of the plant.

Wild looking blossoms. Curious. Is the lotion derived from this plant, or is that just their fragrance? Cool image!

This is a great look at this Witch Hazel. The colors are fascinating as is the "crazy hair" growth habit.
