Little owl

The awful blue in the back is a tractor tyre.
Done late evening tonight. Sun one minute -shade the next. This is a natural stare. She is looking at my foot out the bottom of the hide. This bird is so tame she will not look at the camera unless you do something like cough or wiggle your feet !
D7000 640 ISO Sigma 50-500 mm

Hide Tripod, and flask.

Wonderful shot...love the tilted fence post and wire, plus that engaging stare. Glad you wiggled your foot! Great capture.

The intent stare is excellent and the perch with the rusted/twisted metal is a really nice touch giving the image a rustic feel.

Looks like you subdued the tractor tyre nicely, John-I wouldn't have noticed it had you not drawn attention to it. I love that old fence post and the Owl is great as well. Excellent job.

No nits at all from me, John. Perfect perch, pose and DOF. The tractor tire is a non-issue. :toast:

It looks like the hide/flask approach is working. Sometimes I will take a chair out into the desert with a Guinness and see what comes my way.
Wonderful look from this owl and so nice to have an owl that is approachable. The only suggestion I have if that if this is a regular perch maybe remove the wire if not being used but an excellent shot, owls are really special.

really nice, John. love the stare, the perch, and the comp. tire is oof enough that there's no way to know what it is, and I don't know that I'd have seen the color as unnatural if you hadn't pointed it out, I think it's fine. I'd do some NR on the bg and call it good.

I'll have to try more evening photography instead of morning so I can work in the flask--it seems like it's working well. :toast:

John, Tack sharp with a great pose. I like this shot. The blue tire helps brighten up those browns and rust colors in your composition.......................Jim

Nice image John

Agree about the NR for the BG. And there is a weird border thing on the right of the image ?

Just realised - did no noise reduction at all.
Alan- It had a drop shadow around it and when I cropped it I missed a bit !!
Well spotted.
