A Hippo suddenly emerging from the calm waters with a big yawn. Image taken at the hippo pool close to Pom Pom Camp in the Okavango Delta during last year's " Botswana Explorer " photo safari.

EOS 5D Mark III - EF300mm f2.8L IS USM + 1.4x - 420mm - 1/250 @ f4.0 - ISO 640

Lovely moment, splash and light. I just get the feeling that you may have pushed the golden colour a wee bit? Perhaps I'm mistaken - Mario. Still a nice one!

Dramatic action and incredible lighting. Would like to see a bit less water and a bit more hippo but it's an eye catching image for sure

Mario,
How's Pom Pom not been there for years.
Love the golden colours, just wish for a little more visibility on lower jaw.

Thanks for the feedback guys !

@Morkel, I hear what you saying Morkel but this time i hardly did anything to the image except for a slight crop

@Ken, Pom Pom is great. New management at the camp making it a great place to stay and for me it's a great all-round destination in the delta where you can combine water and land photo sessions with some good sightings

Neat action capture! I, too, wondered about the golden color. It is true that sometimes the actual colors can be unusual enough to feel a little unnatural. I know I have desaturated sometimes to avoid color becoming the main point of interest. I suspect most folks, however, will choose the most dramatic rendition!

Great light Mario and wonderful action! At 1/250 sec, I am surprised you managed to stop the action, at least that is what it looks like on the large version posted as well.

Great moment of capture Mario. IMO ~ even if the natural color was this golden I would tone it back a wee bit :wavey:
