To me, red berries look nice in a snowy environment. They add color to the wintry landscape.

Please comment and critique.

Location: Quarry Hill Nature Center, Minnesota, USA

Date and Time: December 14, 2013 at 16:06

Equipment: Pentax K-5, Pentax DA* 300mm, tripod

Exposure: 1/20s, f/5.6, iso 400

Crop: About 5% each on the top, left, and bottom, and 15% on the right.

Post processing in Lightroom 5: Dodged the dark branch in the upper-right corner. Increased the contrast.

Nicely composed with the three bunches, Randy. Three is always a good number. On the other hand, I think a vertical crop featuring the right two groups would also work nicely. Good dof management getting the front bunch completely in focus while letting everything else go soft, and the exposure looks perfect, even for the luscious reds. Well done.

Scott, thank you for the comments, and for the vertical crop suggestion. Here it is, and it's my preferred version of the image.

The view of the berries and the touch of snow is great. I think this would be stronger as a vertical crop with only the in-focus cluster and the cluster in the lower right. The repost is a bit improvement.

I really like the repost Randy. The red berries topped with snow and the browns in the stems are beautiful . Well seen.

I also prefer the repost, Ronald. I like the contrast and balance between the two clusters and the nice curving stem. Sweet image.

Thank you for the comments, everyone. I found some similar berries today, but they weren't as nice as these.
