End of december 2013 I made a trip with a fellow swiss photographer to Creux Du Van in the Jura Mountains of switzerland. This was one of the best morning/day I witnessed up there even though when we arrived there it didn't looked so......but after waiting for about an hour or so we had the whole day perfect and interesting light to photograph.

Excellent layering away into the mist and nicely composed. Is there a sepia duotone applied?

No there is no sepia tone applied....it's just the way the light has been....I have different shots when the light was colder but I prefer this one when the sun shone through a thin layer of fog

To clarify, I really like the light regardless. I was just curious if it was natural or processing.

A fantasy feel to this. I doubt it felt that way to you while you were shooting it in this snow. The diffused light from the fog really adds to the beauty.

I do like the colour Bill but it doesn't quite look natural. The bendy shapes of the trees look great.

I like this a lot, Bill. It has a fanciful look and the dancing trees add a lot of interest. The snowy conditions helped you achieve nice separation from foreground to background which adds a lot of depth.

I really like it, Bill, it looks natural to me.
Maybe a tad more contrast?

Hi Bill.

This is a great image. I especially like the sparse trunks, covered on their left sides with snow, and the fading of the light in the background. Well done.

This really has a mystical feel to it. Great separation of the crooked trunks and the layering of the fog, mist, light is exceptional. I'm thinking sleepy hollow and headless horseman. very artistic.

Cool! Awesome comp. Dont really care for the color though--my preference would be to keep it color, but desaturate so theres only a hint of it. :toast:

Bill, I really like the comp you created with all these curvy trunks. Love the lighting as well. I'm torn about more contrast as that might ruin the misty, eerie, mystical feel. It's beautiful as posted. Keep up the good work out there in the snow! You've had some doozies this winter

At first I too thought this was sepia toned, but upon clicking on the larger version, I realized it was natural color.

The comp, color and mood here are simply excellent Bill. The image is sharp and ethereal at the same time, and really holds my attention, especially in the large view. I also think this would make a great BW. Stellar image, one of my favorites from you! :toast:

Roland, this is a very beautiful composition with wonderful lighting and atmosphere. My personal preference would be to convert to B&W and perhaps darken the blacks just a bit.
