Strong-billed Woodcreeper

Canon 1D-X, 300mm x 2.0 teleconverter, tripod
f5.6, 1/160, ISO 25600

Another very low light photo, this one from the blind at Tandayapa Lodge. Most of the time, the Woodcreeper was too close to photograph. The ISO is not a typo. You'll have to decide if a blind by a compost heap is baiting birds in or not.

Full frame, light sharpening to bird to minimize color noise.

C & C, please, Thanks for looking.

Nice, Jim. Starting to see some noise in the feathers, particularly the back, but considering the iso, it's still spectacular. Cool action.

Astonishing image quality for that ISO. Not something you would ever imagine possible just a few years ago in the days of film.

Very cool, Jim. You must be having fun down there. Nice work. I bet your old camera couldn't do this. :toast:

Yeah, great IQ for that ISO. WOW! Very impressive and certainly useable as far as I can see.
You could consider running a little NR on the background if you wish. May slightly improve an already excellent shot.

Jim,
This is remarkable given the ISO, you can see some noise hardly surprising really :toast:

Looks very good indeed for the iso here Jim. This looks very much like a Strong-billed Woodcreeper, a common species in those parts. There is not to my knowledge a species named Powerful Woodcreeper although there is a Powerful Woodpecker in Ecuador. :toast:

Incredible bird! I'll bet if you use a noise app on this, it would totally disappear. Amazing! Sharon

Interesting looking bird and I like the color transition from head to tail. There is noise in the image but what the heck for that ISO it is still amazing to me. Nice full frame shot Jim, way to go.

Very good details and what beautiful colors this bird has!
I especially like the worm in the beak, and the look in its eye Jim.
When I read the film speed I couldn't wrap my head around it.
The 1D-X is one awesome cam with results like this.

Nate, you are right, it is a Strong-billed Woodcreeper. Don't know how I got the ID wrong. Corrected it, and thanks.
