We had a lovely sighting of 2 male cheetahs in the Kalahari recently (Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park). The walked next to our vehicle for about 8km and eventually came onto the dunes on the right side of the light. This is nearly full frame at 200mm.

Techs:
Nikon D800
Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8 VR-II
f8.0 | 1/800 SS | ISO-250

Lovely capture of what must have been an awesome experience Morkel.
The light and colours are terrific. It would be faking it I know but a tiny bit more light in those eyes would be great. :toast:

I really like putting the beautiful cat in the environment. The feeling of place is what draws me to this image.

Always nice to be able to follow an animal undisturbed (and undisturbing) like that  - beautiful colours and the little cloud of sand adds that bit extra.

Hello Morkel

Good for you to capture this guy , so close. I like the pose and his look off over your shoulder,. the leg raise is good but would be even better if you had waited a small amount for the leg to be in a better uplifting position , and misssing the tail too cuts him off a little., his long shadow in the sand really adds to the overall capture. and the small bit of sand being didturbed by his paw movement is great too.

thanks for sharing :)

I can see this wasn't shot in the best of light conditions so nice job controlling the exposure :toast:

Love the sense of motion from the feet kicking up sand. The layer-back ears and open mouth adds a dynamic as well. Great low pov and nice composition with good dose of habitat. The blue sky at the top adds depth. Nice work!!!

I most like the sense of movement and the perspective, low and angling into the camera.
