Glowing Dahlia

by Carolyn Derstine

For this image, I wanted to emphasize the center of the Dahlia flower, so through editing, I highlighted the center and darkened the rest of the flower. I also applied vignette and glow filters in Nik Color Pro. As this is more of an artistic interpretation than reality, if the editors wish to move this to Photo Art, feel free.

Canon 60D. 180mm macro lens. F/5.6 for 1/200 sec. ISO 320. Tripod mounted.

Really nice crafting of your image. Your choice of highlighting the central portion and vignetting the outer areas works well here. You have processed and crafted your image exactly the way you invisioned it, AND it looks great. Your skills are definitely improving.

Well done, Carolyn. The lighting/shading actually looks pretty natural, and the image really pops. Terrific result.

Very beautiful floral Carolyn!
Centered comp works well, when you pull it up large it jumps off the screen:smile:
I especially like the well lit center and darker 'fall-off' at the edges. :toast: :toast:

My first reaction is "BOOM". You've definitely emphasized the center and really grabbed my eyes and forced them to the center, with the vignette. Well done.
