Our local flock of juncos had gathered in our backyard as the snow started. Fairly low light level.

1/200 @ F-5.6 ISO 800 + 0.6 adj.
Sigma 120-400 @400mm monopod
This is about a 70% crop. as near as I can figure.

Nice bird, but I am afraid you lost some sharpness due to high ISO and shutter speed... Fingers crossed for another chance in better light conditions  , cheers, Hans

It's nice to see this bird on a branch. I usually see Juncos on the ground. It does seem to lack some sharpness. Does your camera have in camera noise reduction? I've found that when shooting at ISO 800 with my camera, I get a sharper image with the noise reduction turned off and I still don't get much noise.

Nice pose, John. Don't know if it's possible, but if you could have gotten either to the right or left and moved the gap between the fence boards away from the bird it would make this even nicer.

John it's a pity about the softness of the image but sometimes we have to try in all conditions so good on you for having a go.

Agree with other's comments, but still a pretty setting for your junco. The little red buds add to the image. Sharon
