Matterhorn Manticore

In my previous post of a sunset over the Matterhorn, Gary Phillips thought it looked like some kind of dragon. I too felt that as I watched, which is why I took this picture of just the cloud formation. To me it looks like some mythical beast, possibly looking back at the Matterhorn (which is just out of the picture to the right). The bright orange rim lighting and it's complimenting blue sky make this one for me. A beautiful abstract which could substitute for a Rorschach test.

This is amazing! I can look a long time at photos like these, and this is the reason why we should always keep an eye on the skies above us.

I've never seen those clouds around the Matterhorn...those clouds remind me of an image taken by Raphael Rojas a couple of years ago...... You did a good job capturing those clouds and its colors. Great details as well. Amazing clouds

Wonderful colors and feeling of movement in this Mark. Like the light on the edges of the clouds. Wonderful abstract.

Most excellent dragon, indeed. the rim light is fabulous, and the color and cloud shapes, spectacular.

One of those feelings where as if I am laying on my back on the grass, gazing up into the sky and imagining all sorts of creatures flying by. Colorful, beautiful, unusual, and funky all at the same time.

The formation is really complemented by these strong wonderful colors, Mark. What a wild exhibit of nature's wonderful cloud formation overall.

Odd, dramatic dangerous looking clouds.
Unique and well done.

That cloud is just insane. Great abstract . I' m pretty sure I've never seen anything like it. I still prefer the one with Matterhorn included but both are keepers.

Amazing edge lighting you caught in both this and the prior. I think this would work well for a dragon's breath too. The darks are dark enough to make this look like smoke, subtly lightening them might make it look more like clouds without removing too much drama.

Another very nice image in this series Mark..
With this light & 'flow', I could almost imagine this as a closeup section of lava lamp:smile:
