Hi Ken. Overall I prefer this one although the blurred foliage in front of the tree trunk can be distracting. Still works better for me

Ken, choosing between them is tough.
I do like the addition of the tree in the landscape version as it has some wonderful textures and colours which add ad extra dimension tothe photo but the blurred foliage in front of the tree really irritates me. I can see it would not be easy to clone out as we'd be paying such close attention to the textures on the bark the coning would have to be of a very high standard. Way beyond my skills

Ken, I much prefer this wider view with more tree. I would give Content-Aware cloning a try on the OOF foliage messing up the tree - sometimes it works wonders, other times it just makes a bigger mess - but worth a try on such a cool image.

Thanks Ken for giving us an opportunity to make an artistic comparison. It is interesting to me that in other version, the tree in the upper corner felt like it was an intruding mass. But, by adding MORE of it, it recedes in heaviness and becomes a framing element as well as providing a stronger sense of place. I definitely prefer this landscape version, even with the unfortunate oof greenery.

Hey Ken,
Nice shot, but have to say I prefer the vertical version over this one. In this one the tree feels too heavy (visually) for me and have to say I find the OOF green leaves in front of the trunk distracting. Hind right foot feels a bit too tight to the bottom of the frame too (at least for my taste).
Cheers...thanks for posting the complementary versions...

I find it interesting to see the variety of comments on this, personally I prefer this with the exception of the OOF foliage being perhaps to dominant.
I have tried using "content aware", but I do not really like to use the amount of manipulation, necessary.
Here is a "quick fix"
