Yellow Puccoon

I found these growing and flowering along the beach dunes at Wilderness State Park in early summer. The background was in heavy shadow so I selectively darkened it in Lightroom. I also reduced the saturation of the yellow channel. Topaz Detail was used for final sharpening. k5IIs, 300mm DA* f4 set at f8, 1/200th sec at ISO 400.

The yellow and green on the black bg makes a very nice presentation.

Beautifully done, Jim ! I especially like the effect of the darkened bg - also the lovely yellows and the clear structuring of the very interesting petals. Was there a chance to get a touch more width ? - my only ( unimportant ) nit.

The contrast with the BG really makes this pop!

Hi--Thank you for checking out my image. Ian, I thought about your point about some additional width which would help frame the image with black. I checked all of my images from this series and unfortunately had not taken any at a greater distance. It just gives me a reason to head back up there next year :wavey: ...............................................Jim
