This was shot at Saguaro Lake, not far from Phoenix. The reason I consider this different for me is because I'm shooting from a boat. The rocking around and the low light due to the setting sun was quite a challenge. All you can do is handhold and try to time the shot on the cusp of the wave/wake- tripod being useless. Besides that, I'm still shooting old technology- the D200 and that makes it tough to use an ISO setting higher than 400 for an acceptable image.

D200, Sigma10-20@10mm, 1/25sec@f5.6, ISO 400, handheld.

You have steadier hands than I, as I doubt I could have shot this @ 1/25 sec handheld in a rocking boat. It really is a beautiful image - it certainly caught my attention from the thumbnail, and the actual sized image, including the larger version, proved to be just as worthy. Wonderful lighting, and I like how you've highlighted the center area, or perhaps more to the point, how you have vignetted the outer regions. Final impact value is extremely high.

Great job for handheld. . .at dusk. . .and on a rocking boat! You must have steady hands to get such a wonderful shot at 1/25 sec. handheld while bobbing in the water. I like your central comp, the wonderful colors throughout, and the semi-reflection of the cliffs in the water. Great details, too, of the texture in those cliffs. Well done, Bob.

Great looking place, and the reds in the sunset are amazing. At 10mm, 1/25 sec. is do-able with a steady hand, and it looks like you did it. There's even kind of a feeling of shooting from a boat, with a barely-perceptible CCW tilt. I don't find that objectionable at all.

You must have a surgeon's hands there Bob. Beautiful capture with the challenges you faced. I really like the color pallet.
