Fight For The Fish

For several years of photographing Bald Eagles, I have tried to get this shot. Most of the time the event occurs too far away to photograph. This year, it happened close enough at least for a large crop picture. Eagles were in sun with water in a shadow for the BG. Some quality lost in the large crop of greater than 50%. Comments appreciated.

1DIV, EF600, ISO 800, f6.3, 1/1250, manual settings, tripod.

For those inquiring minds who want to know, the attacker did not get the fish.

An amazing moment captured Ralph, congrats for that ! It's stunning and I would kill for an image like that (as a figure of speech of course) ... Only thing I would do, is make the upper end of the image completely black: on the larger image some 'things' can be seen, and they do not add in my opinion, so if it were mine I would darken this part to make them disappear. But, again, great as posted :toast: :toast: , Hans

Ralph,
Congrats on this capture and the action is outstanding. I know all to well how hard it is to be positioned just right to capture this type of action perfectly, a lot of time and alot of luck is required. I believe this image would hold up well with less of a crop if you can retain better detail. Boy, I'll bet your heart rate was off the chart during this event.

Incredible action photo Ralph  Your persistence payed off beautifully. Great light on the eagles, the dark water sets them off nicely.

Awesome Photo!!!

Congrats on getting this great shot that you had been trying for Ralph. The action and lighting are spectacular with the blackish bg setting the birds off. Comp wise I wonder if you have more room on top and bottom, if you do I would try adding that and cropping some from the left to make it a vertical. Congrats again on this beauty :toast:

The lighting is incredible. I had the same thought as Nate: wonder how it would look as a vertical.
