Comin' & Goin'

Pretty much no matter where you are at the Bosque, the snow geese keep coming and going, moving from the ponds in the morning, and from field to field all day, and then back to the ponds at night. It was awesome having them always around for when other bird shooting wasn't ideal, and they are great practice for flight shots. This particular am, I skipped the crane pools and went right to the farm field to greet them coming in to feed. I still haven't figured out how they don't injure each other!

50D, 700mm, ISO 200, 1/400, F11 LARGER version provided.
Thanks for looking/commenting/critiquing! I always appreciate it! Sharon

WOW! The BG works really well for this image, soft and delicate which makes the geese pop. Your choice of F11 worked well also as all the birds are pretty dang sharp. Well done. :toast:

Very nice, Sharon, and smart choice using a smaller aperture to get good focus on the flock. I tried several of these on my recent trip but without the same success - mostly just mayhem.

A wonderful group flight shot in good light with a complimentary background. These are difficult shots to pull off and look good but you have certainly done that. Way to cool Sharon, excellent shot.

A nice flock shot, Sharon. Usually, I look for some kind of focal point in these, but I found my eye used the hills in the bg for that. In retrospect, puting that notch at the lower right 1/3 point might have been even better, but I still like this. Lovely light.

Overall a very nice image with good DOF. We have thousands of Snow Geese down here on the Gulf Coast too. Saw a flock like this one at the Anahuac NWR near Houston recently.

Sharon, I like that you used a DOF that kept most of the geese in focus. A good flight shot.
