The art in ice

In these frigid temps, I enjoy looking for all kinds of ice along our creek. This little branch was at the water line but hard to photograph. So I clipped the branch, attached it with a plamp to a separate tripod, and used the creek as the background, which also meant I could use a small aperture to get detail without getting a distracting background. However, if you look closely, you can see the creek bank and various trees inside the ice.

Canon 60D. 180mm macro lens. F/18 for 1/3 sec. ISO 100. Tripod mounted, in-camera flash fired.

Thanx for the info on how you made this Carolyn! More here should do the same..
Guilty as charged:wink:
I like the prism effect within the ice, with those attractive bands of color..
Great diagonal aspect, love the smooth curved shape also.
Well done! :toast:

Expertly done, Carolyn. Lots to look at and study in the ice. Good use of the creek for the bg.

A photo of the ice really well done. I like the light on the ice and the background neutral color.

This is great, Carolyn! The ice has a neat shape and the refractory colors coming through are wonderful.

Excellent capture. I love all the color in the ice and the way it molded itself to the twig. Nice work
