Young Adult

This is a younger (almost) adult eagle I photographed while up in Alaska late last fall. Thought he was a beautiful bird.

The background is a distant mountain.

Techs:
5D Mark III
500 f/4 with 1.4x TC
1/1250 @ f/5.6 ISO 1600
NR on the background only

Larger version shows a lot more of the detail.

Thanks for taking a look and providing your feedback.

Absolutely love the dirty look of the head feathers. At first glance I wondered why you didn't clone out the left branch but the more I look at it the more I like it, seems to provide some balance to the overall composition. Thanks for sharing it Keith.

I bet you went back & forth on the second perch?
Either way a fine image Keith, no nits! :toast: :toast:

Beautiful, Keith. I like the almost mature head. It's quite unusual but adds a lot of character. I'm ambivalent about the left hand branch; it has a lot of character, but coming out of nothing, it looks a bit out of place.

Excellent shot all the way around Keith. I like the head turn and the background color really adds to the image. The larger image was a pleasure to view.

Beautiful now...to be more beautiful next year! Gorgeous bird, nice head turn and details. The blue of the mountain works really well as a bg. Super image, especially the larger one! Sharon

looks great Keith--great light and detail, awesome bg. comp works well for me. for this perched bird maybe a slower shutter speed to give those raindrops a little more sense of motion?

I think bald eagles in this transition phase are more interesting looking too. A very pleasing portrait with a nice background.

Sweet One Keith!

Perfect head turn and excellent detail. I like the composition and think that the left branch adds balance.

I like this quite a bit. I just returned from a winter trip to Wisconsin where I captured quite a few shots of immature bald eagles. I too think the immature eagles are very attractive. Their appearance can vary widely depending on their age. The younger birds have no discernable white head, but are very striking. I will be posting some of the immature eagle images in the future. Well done!
