Can't say for sure but this might be the same group of cranes that were in Sharon's last post. It was a glorious morning and they were putting on quite a show.

D300s
Nikkor 300mm f4, 1.4 TC (420mm)
ISO 640
1/1000 @ f/6.3
Tripod
Just a slight crop to remove some canvas off the right side of the frame.
LR & Nik

Thanks for looking.

Could be, John...I was at the southern end of the pond...you must have been more to the north. That one juvenile had a real dark back of the head. Nice capture with all 3 paying attention! The group I posted yesterday, the male did this 6 times...Makes me smile! Nice light and poses and good title! Sharon

Nice capture of the behaviors. I like the crane in the air with the water still coming off the feet. You also go a shadow on the inside of the wing like the one Sharon posted. Pretty cool. I do wish the Juvie on the left had a touch more room and his/her entire tail.

Good moment captured. Maybe a tighter crop off the right would help make up for the close crop on the left?

I thought this looked familiar
Great stop action and POV, just a bit tight left is all..
But you know that
Great shot John! :toast:

Nice, John. Looks like a different angle than Sharon's with the same subject. Great display pose. You might want to check a few shots to either side in the sequence you took to see if you can pick up some extra canvas on the left or just add a bit on that side.

I like the open wing pose with the water coming up under the feet. Looks like some wonderful light. Maybe just a little more room on the left side of the image would really balance it out but a fine shot as is, well done.

Thanks for the comments guys. I have quite a few images of this group, I'll have to work up some other interesting selections. Wish I would had composed the frame better in this shot. Perhaps I'll have to try Keith's content aware canvas addition technique that he showed us at the workshop. I just recently installed PS CC so I have a lot to learn yet. :toast:

Great family capture, John. More room on the left would have helped, but still a wonderful interaction here, and especially the "wake" off the feet.

Sweet action behavior in wonderful light John. I'm wishing for a bit more room on the left side too.

Nicely captured John. The one bird is clearly grabbing the attention of the other cranes.

Love the dynamic action. Colors of birds and water with coppers, blues, and touch of reds super.
