Raindrops on Lilies 2

Here's another look at a moderate rain turning the surface of my pond and it's lily pads into an abstract. In processing this I've pushed the contrast as some suggested in my previous post and that adds a nice emphasis to the rippled water pattern. (5D3, 100mm macro L, f/14, 1/250s, iso 6400, tripod and raincoats)

Mark, I like this a lot, but I do prefer the previous post for its simpler composition. There's more of a busyness to this image that, while interesting, is less appealing to me than the cleaner feel of the other image. Just my two cents, but I do enjoy looking at these. :wavey:

This makes a wonderful abstract, full of texture, circles and swirls. Lovely!

I think I like this one a bit better Mark.
More complicated maybe, but I like it better pulled back like this..
Greater interest IMO.
Well done abstract, really enjoyed viewing your work this past year :wavey:

Mark, a really nice take here again and a fine abstract. Looking at both this and the previous version I lean towards the first take. Not anything to be taken from this at all, just like the composition or view of the first slightly better. Both are excellent and I applaud the unique idea & approach you've captured these scenes with.

edit: OK, with a revisit I think the other scene catches my thoughts as a result of seeing the three actual raindrops in decent or on the rebound. That is surely different on that one over this capture. I knew there was something that drew my thoughts back to that image.

Just a dash of HDR to it, and it works great here to bring out all of the textures. a very artistic piece, Mark. :toast:

I suppose the highest compliment you can pay a photographer is to want to go out and take a similar image, and this one inspires me. While I really liked the frozen drops in the others, I actually prefer the wonderful abstract quality this has.
