Shedding lizard

I happened to notice this red-headed brown anole lizard atop my air conditioner unit outside my kitchen window. I found it interesting in that he was shedding and I caught the shot just as he (and only males do this) protruded the dewlap under his neck. The shot was made rather quickly and was technically challenging due to the severe contrast of the sun beating down on the light grey air conditioner top, but my mission was to capture the skin and dewlap with reasonable detail in the upper body. The rear and air conditioner are washed out, but although the photo is anything but a technical success, it depicts something that I found to be of interest and I wanted to capture it however I could. The shot was not helped by the fact that it was shot through the window.

Shot at 330mm, f5.6, 1/800, ISO 1600

Although this is probably not a pure macro shot, it does meet the criteria of depicting an area less than 4 inches and is certainly a close up shot.

Nice capture of the shedding skin under difficult lighting and shooting conditions, Sandy. I also like the protruding throat.

Thanks Scott, I was so pleased that the lizard took what I considered an interesting scene and made it more interesting by being kind enough to time that protruding shot for me!
