Cleared for Takeoff

Just for a change from Bosque. When I was at Ridgefield on the 16th, there were quite a few (by Ridgefield standards) in a field not too far from the road. I had just a taken a couple of shots of three groups of 4 or 5 each that formed a nice pattern, when all of them started taking off at once straight at me. This was 9 frames into the take-off with the 1Div (one second or less from a standing start). The two outer groups were mostly out of the frame with just some partial cranes still in it, so I cropped down to just the wingtips to imply their presence, while still letting me emphasize the center group.

Title modified by my wife on December 23rd.

1Div, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, beanbag on truck window, f7.1, 1/500, Av mode with no compensation, iso 1250. Processed in CS6 and cropped to 6.2MP. Taken December 16th at 9:34 am of a foggy morning.

Your comments and criticisms are most welcome.

Thanks for looking,

Very cool take-off photo Dennis  I like the way the cranes are all lined up and heading straight toward you. Nice detail in the front bird, that lifted leg is a sweet bonus. I do think the wing tips on either side of the frame are a bit distracting though.

Cool shot Dennis. Looks like a bunch of B52's ready for take off. I think I'd crop or clone out the wing tips on the sides.

Great group take off . Like it. A shot not many of us would think about !! I agree I would take out the edge wing tips.
Cheers

Unusual shot Dennis. It does remind me of an air strip with planes lined up ready for takeoff. The blurred BG accentuates the birds which I like.

I agree with the others, quite an interesting 'approach' to this 'take-off'
Unique image & perspective, nice job capturing the action in this light Dennis.
And I'm another vote for the clone out..
Merry Christmas! :wavey:

Dennis, this looks like a time in motion study of sorts. Love the various wing positions as each are in different stages of take-off. Cool concept....however, not really digging the wingtips on both sides of the frame. Personally, I think cropping them out would make this even better.
