Here is another version of the Christmas Cactus my wife bought. I wanted to show how these great blooms come from such small, flat areoles.

C&C always welcome, and thanks for looking,

Large version included,

Morris

Like them both very much Morris, but I may lean toward this one.
It gives the flower a reason to be
Very nice :toast: :toast:

Hmm, wondering what happened to my 1 pixel black border all of the way around?

Thanks, Gigi, and Howard. :wavey:

The petals look like paint strokes and are beautiful. I like seeing the flat plant …weird and fascinating seeing the two together.
No nits.

Morris: Interesting how a slightly wider view gives a very different perspective and effect. I'll take one of each. >=))>

I like this version much better. First, I can actually see a border instead of the image bleeding into the screen white. I can see the black pinstripe around two sides at least, but also the fact that your image white in this post is a bit darker than the screen white, allowing the edges to be defined. But most importantly, the inclusion of the green cactus adds contrast to, and a counterpoint to the bloom. I didn't like the way the bloom was cut off in the original post. This is just awesome now.

Beautifully composed, Morris - really nice contrast between the sturdy leaves and the delicate petals.

Morris - Like this version better than the previous one even though a bit of separation between the flower and the background might have been ideal. Its not a deal breaker though.

You did well to include the green leaves here which provide a solid anchor for the flower to emerge from.

Great view, Morris. The high key treatment is wonderful and the touch of green with the new buds makes a perfect complement to the gorgeous bloom. Happy Holidays.

Congratulations to you Morris on the EP / WP selection for this very fine photo. I usually miss all the neat floral gallery images unless I see them posted in the weekly picks such as this..... :toast:
