Took this whilst bucking up and down on a Zodiac near the shore of one of Svalbard's many Islands. Getting the AF point anywhere near the subject was very amusing!

Hey Ken,

Some nice lighting on this bear's face and the sharpness isn't too bad. Compositionally...well...the sharpness isn't too bad (and I suspect if you were on a more stable platform you could have done wonders with this)!

On my monitors (checked it on 3) the shadows have taken on a bit too much blue cast (in my opinion) - but this could be easily corrected in post-processing...

On the Zodiac shooting: As one who shoots thousands of images a year from a Zodiac I can fully relate to the challenges presented by shooting from them (and the risk of seasickness for those with that predisposition). That being said, like with so many things, the unique challenges of shooting from inflatables (and even kayaks) can be fully overcome with experience and innovation - and it actually is possible to regularly get well-composed, tack-sharp images from them, even when bucking up and down (I have several magazine covers, images published in books and ads and more shot from these cursed bucking bronco's). One obvious "tip" is bumping the shutter speed, which it looks like you've done here. The most important tip is to...well...I guess I should save SOME unique info for my paying photo tour clients!

Cheers...

Wonderful light and a great subject. In my opinion you did well with the shooting conditions facing you. I agree with Brad about the bluish tint in the shadows.

Sweet Close-up!

I think you did a fine job of keeping tis sharp from a Zodiac Ken. Never seen one of these guys in the wild...wonder how much of a rush it was?

Thanks for the comments and hints everybody. I do not really see any blue, it is probably my monitor

Hello Ken

A Soft fuzzy bear with sharp detailed capture. The Image portrays a softer side of this guy, I like it very much. Can see the blue as mentioned but the Natural light is Great too!

You were clearly close! I think you could have done more by zooming out and searching for a more compositional framing.
