Silhouettes at sunset + addition

In that the fiery sunset at the Circle B Nature Reserve was such that getting clear shots of BIF was all but impossible, I decided to go more for an artistic silhouette approach to the shot. Unfortunately, there is no way to capture the beauty, serenity and stillness of these Sandhill Cranes quietly gliding along seemingly powered by something other than their winds in that they were motionless. I'm not sure if this shot works - I am still vacillating and debated wither to post this one or one I have just with 3 of them in formation silhouetted against the sky with no trees.

Great gold tones in that sky, a well defined group of silhouettes seen in the birds..
The tree line @ your bottom works well also.
I might consider a pano if you have the original width, and loose the last bird left?
Just a thought, well done! :toast:
Post script: I worked up a quick pano version if you want to see what I mean?

Thanks Howard, I would love to see it. I guess I'm not totally sure what you mean other than ridding the shot of the last bird. I did happen to shoot one more shot along these lines, but with no trees it might be a bit boring. I must say that watching those cranes sour through the skies without moving their wings in that kind of sky is incredibly exciting and tranquil at the same time! Here's the other, but again probably boring (although I actually sort of like it! )

Thanks so much Howard, it looks much better. Inspired by your version, I found that I was quickly able to teach myself how to do that and also cropped it to replicate the amount of tree that you are showing. Thanks so much for taking the time. This is a great place to learn and be inspired!!
