I had hiked into a remote area to shoot some water birds. Among the shots I most enjoyed getting that morning where some shots of a family of Mallard ducks. When I hiked back to the main road, I spied three people walking a black dog with something in his mouth. As they got closer, I realized that coincidentally, he was carrying is own toy Mallard duck. It was too cute and I asked if I could photograph him. He posed proudly with his toy and then he was on his way with his duck still securely in his mouth.

As an aside, I thought the dog was a Labrador Retriever, but it turned out that he was a very small Great Dane who was the runt of his litter.

Thanks Karen, this boy seemed so proud of himself and his toy. I saw them about 30 minutes later and he was still walking with his toy in his mouth!

He certainly did pose very nicely for you, Sandy. I like the intent look he was giving you and his nice pose. He reminds me of a toddler who like to always carry a favorite toy or blanket around.

I know Carolyn, he looks so proud and alert. I got the biggest kick out of firing off a few shots of him, and it made it all the more fun just having completed shooting real ducks like the kind he was happily and proudly carrying! :)
