In the Spotlight

I was out early this morning at the local nature preserve and it was quite frosty. Somewhere in the mid-20's, which is cold for here. So I was bundled up with heat packs in my mittens. Not a lot going on but I did catch up with a nice group of does and one buck. I liked this particular photo as the doe caught the shaft of sunlight just right, she gave me a good pose, and I had a really good BG to show off her head. Love the look of warmth of things in the sun here. Really belies the real temp. I just made a few changes in the sliders to get the image closer to what I remember. Only thing I couldn't change was the whites of her rump which were a bit hot. I tried adjustments to highlights and whites and that helped. Overall I like how it came out. What do you think? Comments and critiques are welcomed.

This is a good one Peter. Really like the light you caught this doe in. Understand about the white on her rear, but for me, I would like to see the head and neck area just a bit darker, if possible. Thanks for sharing this neat image.

Peter, Excellent shot. The lighting on the doe is beautiful and the dark background is a plus. I like the placement of the doe in the composition a great deal.

The light is warm, always a plus. I think the whites on the rump are a bit too bright and you can probably improve that with some careful post processing. Generally I hope for more "front" of the deer aimed to the lens, rather than butt, although I agree this is a relaxed and typical pose.
