This is another one from "Grenchenberg" in the Jura Mountains. It's about 1400 meters above sea level and in the fall and winter time it is also above fog level. From there you have a great view over the sea of fog to the swiss alps and it's not "over-photographed". This was queit a special morning......a couple of meters below you were in the fog, there was plenty of snow up there but just about 100 meter everything was still green.......just above us there was a covered sky but just about 5 to 10 miles farther west or easr there were blue skies......

What a beautiful place. Wonderful elements of the mountains plus snow and fog. For me the foreground tree takes up to much of the frame but it is till a very nice photo. Chet

Having such a large object in the foreground is tricky, but you nailed it! I only find the blue sky in the distance a bit distracting, do you happen to have one with only clouds? But that's a minor nit, this is a great picture, nice atmosphere.

Its a difficult style of composition to pull off, but I agree with Roel that this works quite well. I also agree with him about the blue sky...very minor but perhaps a bit out of sync with the otherwise very cold feel of the scene.

Too much tree for my tastes. It blocks the view of that great ridgeline behind. And, I also vote for reducing the saturation in the sky. It can still be there for depth, but it pulls a little too much now. Looks like a great time up there!

I sure like the warm tones and dusting of snow in the middle ground. I like that streak of blue sky but wish the foreground tree wasn't so dominant.

Interesting weather for sure. The warm light makes it a but surreal. Interesting comp. Quite engaging as it takes a bit to get oriented. Intensely blue sky seems a bot strong in the context of the other elements.

The fog and combined with extreme depth of field play tricks with perception. The tree top in the mist in the lower right is a really nice touch. Beautiful.

The fog makes this special; I think the slice of blue sky is an interesting element. The placement of the foreground tree makes this close to a 50/50 comp, but not quite.

Thanks for all your feedbacks. As always I really do appreciate it!
@Morris: I know what you mean concerning the ridge line......but I couldn't stand further right because there was another tree that would have come in the frame.

I don't have a shot with only clouds.......I can reduce the saturation of the sky a little bit. Thanks for your input.

An unconventional comp-but it works for me! Great perspective, makes me feel like im there with you which is the mark of a solid photo IMO. :toast:
