Bill - It keeps getting better and better with each posting. I like that slight tilt in the plane of the petals to work the DOF and textures are very well highlighted.
I must try some frames like these next season.

Did you put these two in a vase and against a black backdrop? The effect is quite beautiful.
Lucy: Yes to both. I used a simple black mat board for the BG. We have a high ceiling master bathroom that has south facing windows up high that allow lots of light in at different angles and intensities. I don't have any studio lighting but can arrange things for different effects and of course with no wind to deal with I can use a low ISO and long shutter speeds if necessary. The only thing I really have to pay attention to is the distance from the subject to the BG so that if I use fill flash I don't have to worry about casting a shadow. . . Bill

I agree with Ram - they're getting even better, Bill. Beautifully arranged, composed and captured.

Another stellar, "studio" shot of these iris, Bill. The light/dark flower pairing is perfect against the black background and the extra side lighting adds a great glow to the stems.

A beautiful studio image, Bill. I am envious of the texture you brought out, especially on the flower petals!

Please tell me there is a gallery waiting for these, Bill! Come on! I mean really? These are a tutorial in themselves about studio setups and lighting.
