Lapland Larkspur

Another photo from the Seward Peninsula in Alaska this spring. These birds spend much of their time foraging on the tundra and singing at the same time. This handsome male paused for moment on a small tuft and burst into song.

Canon MKIV, 600mm & 1.4x converter, 1/400, f8, ISO 800, slightly cropped all around.

All your comments and suggestions are very much appreciated.

Good exposure and details, love this birds colors/markings too Ken.
I especially like your very low POV, and the tundra grasses FG.
Well done :toast:

Ken, interesting subject and setting and I like the singing pose. Springtime in Alaska, what fun that must have been.

Great angle, Ken, and excellent detail. You say you cropped this all the way around. To my eye this feels a little tight. If you don't have anything too objectionable on the periphery, I think a looser crop might actually work better.

Ken-good job on exposing the contrasting colors and I like the crop as presented. I might be tempted to selectively isolate the left foreground and apply a tad of Gaussian blur to soften it just a tad, but a fine image as is.

Hi Ken,

What a nice pose of the larkspur; nice colors, too. The interesting "bedding" and texture of the background enhance the image as well. Well done.
