Surface tension

Hidden Pond

Rachel Carson Conservation Park, Maryland

I tried cropping out the far trees and shore, but I wan't happy about it. The tree highlights are blown, sadly; there was nothing there to recover. So I painted a little color on them through a TK luminosity mask.

Three RAW exposures for DOF, hand blended in PS6, processed in LR5, TK resize/sharpening for web
Canon T2i, 1 s, f/9, ISO 100, EF 24-105 mm @ 24 mm, CPL

Seeking any and all advice and comments. Thanks in advance.

The painting you did on those trees looks pretty amazing to me. No suggestions for me, just enjoying the diversity in this shot. I need to have blown highlights too if this is what can be done. Nice job processing it.

I like it! The colors and shapes work great. It does look a bit overexposed, overall, but this does not take anything away from the appeal.

This works quite nicely for me. Good job on the trees too. Real nice colors and overall scene.

More like "Surface Relaxation".

Nice job on the processing. I never would have guessed the high lights had been blown.

I like your comp here with the inclusion of the trees on the far bank. Their textures contrast nicely with the lower portion. Very nice color as well. Especially the blue sky coming through in the reflection. Well done.

This is very nice--peaceful. You did a great job with the processing, especially in the high values. I like the warm/cool color contrast.

Great result pulling order out of the chaos in a very tough spot to shoot. The high values (almost posterization) in the background make a great contrast to the foreground.

Very much like the larger version. Wonderful delicacy in the leaves and trunks in the background.

Most amazing image to me, Ronald. I especially appreciat the transition from foreground to the depth, as well as you careful treatment of colors.
