Took this shot in October on a placid stretch of the Wenatchee River near Leavenworth. The color wasn't the best this year, but there were a few good spots. Here's one.

A very pretty display of fall color. The stump on the bottom does not add anything for me and I feel a crop from the bottom would make this stronger by concentrating attention on the upper part of the image.

I was on the fence about the stump as well David. Here's a version sans said stump.

Well, it looks like you found some pretty nice fall color here, Joe! Those reflection are wonderful. I'm a little undecided about the stump and maybe a crop just above it would work. The more I look the stump is less of an issue for me.
edit: I guess you did this crop while I was making my post. Just what I was thinking!

Textural cornucopia! The yellows really pop from their surroundings. Nice intimate shot. Looks a little over exposed in general. A little darker, then maybe a touch of additional contrast might be worth trying. There is a bright log near the left edge that catches my eye, so maybe toning down or cropping out A very pretty mix.

The repost looks pretty darn good to me, Joe. The yellows really pop and what's not to like with an autumn reflection. Sounds like there was a lot of areas with spotty color this year, but you managed to find a beautiful section.

Nice capture of the seasonal beauty. Could possibly see burning down the colors above the water a bit to make them more intense.

Joe- I do think the repost is better, but as Tony suggests I think you could take it even further and still maintain a realistic feel.

I think the repost is pretty darn good, but ill be a bit radical here and confess that if it were mine, id crop the top portion entirely. The dead portions in the forest kind of clash for me with the colors, but that's not an issue in the reflection. So, with just the reflection, the top part is left to your imagination. But yeah, too radical for most folks i imagine, so this works just fine too.

Well Stan, you've always been a radical guy...
I kind of like the dead trees, as for me they add interest and contrast. But I'm always open to suggestions. Is this semi-pano crop close to what you had in mind?

Joe, I do prefer the stump removed, but there seems to be the remaining white spots of disturbance in the water in the stump's eddy.
