Visiting my son and family for the holiday in Lincoln, NE. This morning early I went to Holmes Lake and had a nice sunrise. The weather been pretty chilly and the lake has a lot of ice on it and so did my fingers by the time I was done. Cropped to approx. 85% of original. Thanks for your comments and critiques.

Lovely sunrise, Richard, with nice leading lines both in the clouds and in the lake. I do think some dodging in the foreground, especially the line of land coming in from the left and the bank on the right, to make things easier to see would be a nice improvement.

Richard, This is a pretty sunrise and I think your comp worked nice showing it off. I especially like the reflections across the water. The foreground looks a little soft but that may be because of the wind too, either way it is a pretty scene.

Richard, you did a nice job capturing a fairly interesting comp here. I've been living in Lincoln my whole life and Holmes lake isn't the most picturesque setting, really an urban area. I was there a couple of weeks ago and had a nice number of coots and grebes migrating through. I was not here for the sunrise this morning, like you I was visiting my son and his family in Iowa City and didn't get back into town till early this afternoon. Trying to get a lot done before I head out in the morning for Bosque for the week. I wish you safe travels back to Scottsbluff! :toast:

Great light and comp, Richard. The lines in the clouds and shoreline lead so well to that great light. I do think selectively lightening the foreground just a little would add further interest.

A great photo. Foreground comments already noted. I took a college PE class in sailing on Holmes Lake, well plenty of years ago, and I never saw it like this. It was worth your chilly morning.

Hi Richard,

This is a beautiful sunrise scene. I feel that the darkness of the foreground works well. I would probably clone out what may be a piece of wood in the water on the right edge of the frame. Well done overall.

A lovely sunrise to be sure, Richard. Nicely done. I'd like to see more detail in the LLC, but there's likely not much there. I like how the spit of land leads my eye to the nice color in the water and the sky.

A fine comp, and what looks like a perfect morning to be there. Well done.
