Acadia NP, ME

The color was pretty spotty in Acadia this year so it forced me to look for other comps instead of the bold in your face color. This was taken as the sun was rising over Mt Champlain and beginning to back light some sections of Beaver Dam Pond.

As always, thanks for taking a look and leaving a comment or suggestion.

I wasn't thinking Acadia at all when I looked at the thumbnail. When I opened this image I was thinking somewhere in the West. But the white pine should have been a clue. Nice to see some of the back areas in Acadia as it is more than just the rocky coast. Love the quiet pond and the quiet reflections of the pine and the white birches. The sunlight highlighting the trees is a nice touch. Hard to imagine that a little over 60 years ago this area was toast after the big fire. Those white birches are pioneer species and probably one of the first trees to establish afterwards. Now they are getting old and something else will succeed them.

The light here is gorgeous, and I really like the composition. I think blue/cyan saturation is too high, especially in the birches and their reflection. The contrast looks great.

simple and elegant. you've got clashing colour balances (shadow and sunlight) which might be resulting in a cast in the shadows.

Beautiful light and reflections, and I also find the touches of color in the BG forest very appealing. Beautifully seen and presented Ed.

Very nice composition and light Ed and beautiful reflection. I don't mind the blue in the shadows as it adds to the scenes mood and colors. Great job on this. :toast:

Love the composition on this scene, Ed. Looks like a peaceful outing to have been on. I would pull the blue / cyan sliders way back for another look.

Excellent handling of the strong light here, and the very nice pulling of the white trunks out of the shadows in the background to add depth. Well done.

What a gloriously peaceful view. I sure like the gentle symmetry of the reflections and how you set it just a bit off center with the extra space at the top. Fascinating how the repost seems just a touch sharper, due to the added warmth.

This is a very nice image Ed. It evokes a feeling of serenity. The color and light, wonderful. I like the counter point of the bare trees to the tree of light. Reflection adds a lot Well done. Chet

The larger view really pops compared to the thumbnail.
The water is so good, I think more on the bottom and less top if you have it would look nice.
