Dunlin Displaying

This was probably my favorite moment from our Nome, Alaska workshop last summer. While we were photographing a pair of Pacific Golden Plovers, this Dunlin came in and started calling and displaying with 1 wing up. I thought it was really funny with only the back wing up. It wasn't really close so this is cropped a fair bit as it's a small bird.

A splendid image indeed, he looks pretty impressed with himself. Pretty darn nice detail in that raised wing considering a significant crop.

This looks familiar, what a great moment he gave us. And you captured it very nicely at it's peak Nate. Excellent detail and calling pose in that awesome light.

Hi Nate,

This is a nice capture. The bird is sharply in focus, and the blue/grey wing tips add a lot to its beauty, especially in the large version of the image.

Beautiful color and light and an interesting pose. With the open beak and the wing gesture it looks like he is saying "they went thataway"or maybe "follow me."
