It was a dull dark day in the northern reaches of the Arctic Ocean, not really conducive to good image capture, but you have to try.

Hi Ken,

The composition, position of the bear, its "smile," and the splash of water in front of the outreached paw make the best of the dark day. If you have cropped the top a little, it might be nice to see the top of the snow/ice pile directly above the bear's back. Nice capture.

Nice one Ken. Randy already mentioned my likes of this photo. My favorite is the splash of water from the front paw.

This is super. The paw, as everyone mentioned, really adds a lot. I long for a bit more room all around if you have it. Great image nonetheless.

Cropped? If so, more space, especially in front with make this even more appealing. The dynamic of the moving pose is wonderful.

Great body language here!
Considering the long strides, it is taking, it definitely needs some more space in front.

Although a bit tightly framed, it's still a good one, Ken. Cool that you got the dripping paw in the frame.

Love the ice/water coming off the right paw. Just really gives this guy a sense of motion. Great catch.

Just a Wonderful photo, pleasing to the eye. I would like to see more of the top of the photo. I like how he has kicked up the snow with his paw. beautiful work

Nice action, Ken. The water coming off the front paw is great. Agreed that shooting a bit wider would've been better, you did a fine job anyway.

Well, at least you had niche bright subjects for a dull day. Looks like it worked really well. I like the sense of motion the right forepaw and associate water/ice give.

Thanks everybody for your comments and suggestions, I definitely needed to be nearer 200mm
I also agree more room at the top would have been better.
